Life in retirement.

by ragingmad @ 2008-07-23 - 17:15:47

After my heart attack, having been such a large one and me being very lucky not to have kicked the bucket, doubly so as a day into my hospital stay, and I go and get appendicitis, and the operation to see to that could have killed me. Or at least I would not have been able to handle the anaesthetic. It took some three months to be able to get back enough strength to be able to get around. I can tell you that after an event like that it really makes you reevaluate your life. At 62 I thought is it worth it? By that I mean was it worth continuing beating my head out by trying to continue in a business that only seemed to bring me endless problems. I still had ongoing fighting with the Patent Office over their not doing their job properly and I still had a fight on to stop the thief Busbridge from stealing my Trade Mark "Viper" off me. However maybe it was time to call it a day and get out of work and business and retire.
I really wasn't fit enough to handle the heavy duty work, that making kits and cars entailed. As I had been put on Incapacity Benefit, I decided that as I only had three years to retirement, I may as well call it a day. In my ever present optimism. I thought stupidly that being retired would be an end to the constant hassles with every government department going. How wrong I was, and I have had just as many hassles with government departments as before. The only difference is now I can attend to them full time!! So now instead of spending all my time working, now I spend it fighting the government. Here is a quick low down on current and ongoing battles:-

1/ The Patent Office (since 1992) over incompetence and losing me hundreds of thousands of pounds of PROFIT, by not doing their job over my ex agent, and thus putting me into a penurious retirement on only a State Pension which at its most leaves you on the breadline.
2/ The Department of Work and Pensions over never having paid me the full amount of my pension, because their records are incorrect.
3/ The DWP because they said I was not entitled to the benefits I was getting when I took off to Australia for a few months peace and recuperation in 2004/5. They then wanted it all back, but like all useless government bodies, they got all their sums wrong and the bill they sent me was twice as big as they were entitled to reclaim ( if they ever were entitled ) and they still haven't got it right. Plus they were indulging in sex discrimination by not giving me benefits when I was away, anyway.
4/ Fighting Poole Council for not paying me Housing Benefits and forcing me to vacate my flat and move into the Bournemouth area where I would get it. They broke the European Human Rights Laws in what they did.
5/ Fighting an Australian government agency for wrecking my motorhome when they inspected it
and failing to apologise and recompense me for the cost of said damage.

So as you can see retirement isn't exactly the peaceful end to my life that I wanted. So now the following blogs will deal with how I see how this country is now as compared with what it was when I left school. Plus I will list each main area where things are in a mess, and I will describe why.
